ROGERS (KFSM) - Deloria Gray and her husband Ray salvaged some of their clothes and pictures Friday (Oct. 10). Their home caught fire after being struck by lightning, according to authorities.

There were burnt pieces of furniture scattered outside and a large hole where the lightning struck the home in the second floor.

The couple made it out safely along with their three dogs Maggie, Fancy and Buddy.

The home is located at 1431 Monte Road. Rogers firefighters received the call came in around  a.m. as storms moved through Benton County.

Deloria's son Ronnie Narx was in the shop behind the home with his co-workers when he heard the explosion.

"It was quite loud, Narx said. "The lights went dark all at once."

"The smoke was rolling out quite heavy," he said. "The whole roof was on fire by the time the fire department got here and they did an excellent job."

Narx said his parents have a cabin at Beaver Lake where they will stay. However, he said their home is a total loss.

He said they have homeowner's insurance.
