FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The University of Arkansas and the American Red Cross are working together for the annual Homecoming blood drive, which kicks off today.
Organizers are hoping to bring in more than 1,200 blood donations this year. Each donation is capable of saving up to three lives and could provide blood to more than 3,000 patients, according to a release.
"This blood has already been committed to hospitals, it's already been committed for surgeries, it's already been committed for people who need it," said Ryan Miller, Assistant Director of Young Alumni Student Outreach, "We need to meet that goal so we can impact our fellow Arkansans and truly show that we are Razorback family."
The drive will be held today (Oct. 15) and Thursday (Oct. 16) from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in HPER gyms 3 and 4 on campus.
If you would like to donate blood, you will need to schedule an appointment. You can do so by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code UAFAY.
All donors who participate will receive a free t-shirt.
