The Arkansas Razorbacks dropped their 16th straight SEC game Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, losing 45-32 to Georgia.
While the stats showed a close game, the Hogs lost the turnover battle, 4-0. That proved to be the difference.
After Arkansas took an early lead, the Bulldogs scored 38 unanswered points including four touchdowns in a seven-minute span in the second quarter.
Arkansas got on the board with its first drive on a 1-yard run from Alex Collins, dominating the line of scrimmage. John Henson missed the extra point and everything spiraled downward.
It only took Georgia five plays in 1:28 to take the lead, 7-6.
The Bulldogs capitalized with four straight touchdowns before the half thanks to three-straight Arkansas turnovers, including a fumble by Alex Collins inside the Arkansas 10 yard line and a Brandon Allen fumble returned 54 yards for a touchdown.
With Georgia leading 38-6 going into the second half, the Hogs made the score respectable with two touchdowns in the third quarter and two more in the fourth, but the turnovers loomed too large.
Arkansas outgained Georgia 422-386, had 29 first downs to Georgia’s 18 and had almost twice as many passing yards, but the only stat that mattered was the four turnovers.
Allen finished 28-45 for 296 yards with 3 TD and 2 INT.
Jonathan Williams carried the ball 18 times for 108 yards.
Georgia running back Nick Chubb was also a problem as the Bulldog offensive line manhandled the Arkansas front. Chubb rushed 30 times for 202 yards and two scores.
Arkansas hosts UAB next Saturday at 11 A.M. in Razorback Stadium.
