BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) – The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will reduce southbound traffic to one lane on Interstate 49 between Highway 264 at Lowell and the Wagon Wheel Road exit, according to a release.

Crews are widening that stretch to three lanes. They’ll repave the two existing outside lanes to have three freshly paved lanes on that section.

The work will start Sunday (Oct. 19) at 8:00 p.m. and is expected to end Friday (Oct. 24) at 6:00 a.m., if weather doesn’t cause any delays, the release states.

Work on the northbound lanes was completed earlier this month.
