PARIS (KFSM)-Police in a Logan County town are investigating a Facebook page promising gift cards for kids as part of a photo contest.

The page claimed to be associated with the town of Paris, but officials said they do not have anything to do with it.

Ronna Anderson is a grandmother in Paris.

"It's eerie,” Anderson said. “My very first reaction was anger."

Anderson said she recently fell victim to the Facebook page.

"It was asking you to put down the child's name, the age, and the parent's name,” Anderson said.

Anderson said she recently sent in photos of her grandchildren in hopes of winning a $200 gift card for toys.

"It was something that was supposed to be holiday festive," Anderson said.

Paris police said they are in the early stages of the investigation, but people need to be mindful when posting on the internet.

"It's going to be there forever," Paris Police Chief John O’Brien said. "People that are approached with contests, phishing scams, anything like that where they try to elicit your name, your kid's name, birthdays and social security numbers---never give that information out."

Anderson said she will think twice now before posting online.

O’Brien said the department is investigating who is behind the account and what their intentions were.

The page has since been deleted from Facebook.
