It didn’t take long for the experience to overcome the newcomers.

San Francisco, who is making an appearance in the World Series for the third time in the past five seasons, scored three runs in the top of the first and never looked back as they took down the Royals 7-1 to take the early series lead.

Kansas City is in their first fall classic since taking the title in 1985.

Hunter Pence took the air out of the crowd in the first as his two-run home run to center gave San Francisco a 3-0 lead.

Kansas City starter James Shields seemed to settle in after that but again looked shaky in the fourth before being pulled without recording an out in the inning.

Pablo Sandoval also drove in a pair of runs for the Giants as they handed the Royals their first loss of the post season. San Francisco is now 9-1 in the playoffs.

Giants’ starter Madison Bumgarner was masterful threw the first six innings and his only blemish came in the seventh, after the game was well within hand. Bumgarner threw seven innings while allowing just three hits and struck out five to get his fourth win of the postseason.

Game two is set for Tuesday at 7:07 p.m. at Kauffman Stadium
