FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - A Fayetteville mother is asking for answers from the Fayetteville School District after she says the school`s superintendent insulted her family on national television.

Bambi Crozier spoke to the Fayetteville Schools board Thursday (Oct. 23), demanding answers after her daughter was forced to change her shirt at school earlier this year.

The religious t-shirt reads "Virginity Rocks".

Crozier’s daughter is a Ramay Junior High student.

The school asked Crozier’s daughter to change her shirt, stating it was inappropriate for the classroom.

“It has been a little bit crazy, it has died down now,” Crozier told 5NEWS.

The story, first reported by 5NEWS, went viral, gaining attention around the world.

“We are not typically accustomed to being in the spotlight,” Crozier said. “I had people [contacting me] from the Philippines, China, everywhere. A lot of different countries, and states, have reached out.”

One comment from the school`s superintendent, Paul Hewett, caught Crozier`s attention.

“He said ‘This has brought enough attention on this mother and daughter, which they were seeking’,” Crozier said.

Crozier tells 5NEWS that the statement was wrong.

“I would like it to be done,” Crozier said. “I sought none of this, [my daughter] sought none of this.”

So, Crozier addressed the school board about the matter.

“Our leaders are there, and they are there to set an example,” Crozier said. “And, our superintendent is leading our school district. He has attacked my daughter nationally. I have attempted to make phone calls, which he didn`t answer for multiple times. I scheduled an appointment, which I showed up for, and he didn`t bother showing.”

Hewett, and school representatives, declined 5NEWS’s request for comment.

They also did not release a statement, saying they do not address the media with topics involving personnel issues within the school.

After Crozier expressed her displeasure with the district’s handling of the matter, she asked for three things.

“I need somebody to admit he made a mistake. I need somebody to apologize for his mistake. And, I think [Hewett] needs to step down,” Crozier said.

Crozier later called for other parents who have received similar treatment from the district to speak out.
