BENTONVILLE (KFSM) - A Bentonville woman called authorities and said she and several of her neighbors received Ku Klux Klan (KKK) propaganda on their doorsteps on Friday morning (Oct. 24), authorities say.
The letter identifies the KKK as a Christian organization and is addressed to "ladies."
It asks the "ladies of America" if they're tired of:
- The liberal public school systems teaching children that being a homosexual is a normal way of life
- Other non-Christian teachings and the absence of voluntary prayer in our schools
- Drug dealers trying to make addicts of our youth
- And more
The letter closes by leaving a phone number for people to call if they're interested in joining.
Frank Ancona, the President and Imperial Wizard for the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, said that the letters were part of their recruitment drive.
He said they received a total of 12 calls as a result of their letters. Half of the calls were positive, while half the calls were negative, according to Ancona.
The letters specifically targeted women due to the fact that most men who join or want to join end up leaving because their wives encourage them to quit, Ancona said.
The Bentonville Hazmat team, the Bentonville Police Department and the Bentonville Fire Department came to the neighborhood at Holly Drive and Northwest A Street in response to the propaganda, officials say.
In addition to the letter, the woman said suspicious bags containing a mysterious liquid were found.
Authorities tested the bags for pH and toxic chemicals, but all the tests came back clear.
