Tailgating Areas Nearly Empty Before Homecoming Game

FAYETTEVILLE [KFSM] - The Razorbacks had an 11 a.m. kickoff Saturday (Oct. 25) for their homecoming game against the University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers. The early start time caused tailgating numbers to reduce drastically.

"We were rather surprised with the lack of people in the park here...maybe because it's an early game or that it's a non-conference team, but the stands are full, but the tailgaters are not in full force today," Michael Hughes said.

The Gardens on the U of A campus were nearly empty Saturday morning. Only a few loyal fans came out to get ready to cheer on the Hogs. Hughes said he thinks there would have been a bigger tailgating crowd if the Razorbacks were playing a big name team.

"I would have liked to seen them bring a conference team in for homecoming, to add to the hype," Hughes said.

Hogs fan Dale Jones said after the disappointing game against the University of Georgia last week, he hoped a win Saturday would turn around the rest of the season. The Hogs defeated the Blazers 45-17.

"I hope this fuels the fire and we get to go to a bowl game," Jones said.

During halftime of the game, the 2014 homecoming queen was crowned. For more information click here.
