LEFLORE COUNTY (KFSM) – Two people are recovering in the hospital after being hit by a truck in LeFlore County over the weekend.

Troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident happened after a Dodge truck hit two people walking on East Quarry Island Road near Wister Saturday night (Oct. 25) around 7 p.m.

Tammie King, 25, from Bokoshe, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith to be treated for both head and leg injuries, authorities said.

King was walking with a 12-year-old girl at the time of the accident. Troopers said the 12-year old was taken by ambulance to the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau to be treated for leg injuries. Her name is not being released due to the girl’s age, authorities said.

Troopers said both King and the 12-year-old are listed in stable condition as of Monday morning.

Authorities said the truck involved in the accident was being driven by Dallas Lyons, 64, from Howe. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed against Lyons at this time, authorities said.
