BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) – Benton County deputies recovered more than 70 pounds of marijuana and arrested two people in a drug bust Tuesday (Oct. 30). They estimated the value of the marijuana to be around $150,000.

David Brown, 36, and Sarai Long, 42, of Rogers, were arrested in connection with the marijuana growing operation. Their bond was set at $5,000, and both Brown and Long bonded out Thursday afternoon.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division executed a search warrant at 711 N. 28th St. in Rogers and uncovered an extensive indoor growing operation, according to Deputy Keshia Guyll. Guyll  said they recovered marijuana in various stages of cultivation and a large amount of drug paraphernalia.

"They had various ventilation systems, separate growing rooms, each room was for a different process, so it was very elaborate," Guyll said.

She said the house was outfitted to grow marijuana, and estimated the growing equipment to cost around $5,000.

"They had obviously put a lot of time and money into getting it to where it was, I mean they had packaging equipment, and cultivation equipment, so they put some time and effort into itm" Guyll said.

Madeline Spiller is lives next door to Long, and said she's always had a good relationship with her neighbor.

"Oh I was shocked, not as much about him, but her I couldn't believe it, deep down she's a nice person, and I'm not against marijuana," Spiller said.

She said Brown had lived with Long for months, and said he always mowed Spiller's lawn.

"Her garage was filled with all his stuff for mowing grass I thought, and he was out doing something, digging out in his yard last week, I don't know what they were doing, getting dirt for growing marijuana I imagine," Spiller said.

Records show Brown was arrested in 2000 on misdemeanor drug charges. He was also arrested in 2005 on felony drug charges. Long has not been arrested before in Benton County.Their arraignment is set for Dec. 8 at 8 a.m. The case remains an ongoing investigation.
