In your 5NEWS Fit, we're punching away the pounds with a workout specifically designed for women. The ladies of BAM aren't just helping themselves get into better shape; they also give back to the community.

“We’ve got women of all shapes and sizes that come in here scared to death, and we want them to know, you can do this,” owner Beverly Hosier said.

Hosier created Body and More two years ago to encourage all women, no matter their size, to live an active lifestyle.

“It’s about coming in and doing this at your own pace,” Hosier said.

The program focuses on interval training. It combines things like body combat, weights, stretching, and various other moves to work your arms, legs, and core. Trainers say the biggest struggle for women is getting into a routine and getting over the soreness of just beginning.

“Once they get through that soreness, they're hooked,” trainer Nicole Denham said. “But it’s working through that because women, you know how we are, it hurts. We don`t want to do it.”

Many women who started the program have moved on to become trainers.

“It’s so much fun,” Taylor Martinez said. “When you lead a class, it’s like a whole different level, nothing red bull could compare to.”

Body and More isn’t just about transforming your body, it really is more. An open class is held every Saturday. You just have to pay $5 and all the money is donated to local organizations.

“We’ve had families who have had unexpected deaths and have had to travel to Arizona, so we’ve given back to that,” Hosier said. “Just anything that God puts on my heart is where it’ll go.”

Helping one another in and out of the program is what makes this workout feel more like you’re enjoying time with family. Kids are even welcome to come. The program provides a babysitter in the gym.

“Obesity in the youth is at such a high percentage right now,” Hosier said. “We want to be able to have the kids actually come to the workouts and see their moms participating in something and make it look fun for them.”

BAM is located in Fort Smith and Van Buren.
