SCOTT COUNTY (KFSM) – The body found earlier this week in the woods south of Waldron has been identified as Mark Nix, the man who went missing in September, according to the Scott County sheriff.
Sheriff Amie Carpenter said the state medical examiner confirmed the identity of the body found Monday between Hightop Road and Upper Buffalo Road. The medical examiner is still determining the cause of death, Carpenter said.
A large search party looked for Nix for six days after he was reported missing Sept. 19. His truck was found in the woods just south of Waldron at Truman Baker Park three days after he went missing, and searchers looked for him within a six mile radius of his truck.
Investigators said at the time they did not suspect foul play. Nix’s wife told investigators that it is not unusual for her to not know his exact location.
About 45 searchers from eight counties looked for him.
