BENTONVILLE (KFSM) – A Bentonville City Council campaign worker was cited on suspicion of stealing a $700 Panasonic camera while delivering political fliers, police say.
Billy L. Price, 19, of Springdale was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Oct. 30 at 6:57 p.m. on suspicion of an unrelated residential burglary case. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 1, and he is being held on a $3,500 bond, according to the jail’s intake report.
On Oct. 18, a Bentonville resident reported the theft of an Amazon package containing a $700 camera from their front doorstep, police said. That resident told police that a Bentonville City Council political flier had been placed on his front door at about the same time the theft occurred. The resident suspected the person who delivered the political flier may have stolen the camera, according to police.
An investigation was started, and police determined that Price was one of the campaign workers delivering those political fliers, and he stole the camera, police said.
Price also delivered political fliers to various locations throughout the city, so, police said it may be possible that other thefts took place that haven’t been reported yet. Since Price was already in custody at the Washington County Detention Center when the investigation wrapped up, he was cited on suspicion of theft of property and left at the jail, according to police.
The camera has not yet been recovered, police said.
