If the Heartland Conference members were upset about the UAFS volleyball dominance since joining the league, things are getting worse for those teams.
The Lady Lions wrapped up their third straight regular season conference title with a three game sweep at Texas A&M-International on Thursday. UAFS won 25-8, 25-17, 25-17 to sweep the regular season series.
UAFS finishes the regular season on Saturday at St. Mary’s.
Jane Sargeant’s team will host the conference tournament next weekend (Nov. 14-15) at the Stubblefield Center and be the No. 1 seed. St. Edward’s has already secured the No. 2 seed for the Heartland Conference tournament. Newman and St. Mary’s will round out the field of four but their seeding depends on Saturday’s results.
UAFS will play the No. 4 seed at 5:30 p.m. and St. Edward’s will play the No. 3 seed at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 14. The championship match will be at 1 p.m. on Nov. 15. The conference tournament champion will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.
