MOUNTAINBURG (KFSM) – State police on Friday identified the Mountainburg man killed when his vehicle overturned into a tree Thursday.
Shane McCormick, 28, was driving a 2001 Ford Escape southbound on U.S. 71, when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the west shoulder of the roadway, according to an Arkansas State Police crash report.
The vehicle slid down an embankment, ramped a driveway and overturned into a tree, the report states.
McCormick was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 25-year-old Clarissa Grife, was transported by a medical helicopter to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, police said.
Conditions were clear and dry at the time of the wreck, state police said.
