OARK (KFSM) – A website known as Thrillist has named a restaurant in Oark as the oldest in the state.
The article on Thrillist lists the oldest restaurant in every state, and the article names The Oark General Store as the oldest eatery in Arkansas.
Established in 1890, the business has been around for almost 125 years, the website states.
“The small wood house dished up Southern comfort food in a tiny town surrounded by the Ozark National Forest but has managed to land itself on the National Register of Historic Places, making it worth a stop, even if just for the scenery,” the article states.
The Oark General Store is at 10360 County Road 5440 approximately 22 miles north of Clarksville, according to the article.
