SPIRO (KFSM) – A disabled Oklahoma veteran was reunited with his previously lost dog named Daisy on Monday (Nov. 10).

Wanda Harrigan of LeFlore County told 5NEWS that Daisy, a 15-year-old Shetland Sheepdog mixed breed, went missing on Nov. 8 after the back door of her house somehow came open.

She said that she and her husband, retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Ansharn Harrigan, were unable to locate the dog. He suffers from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and he is very close with Daisy.

“He was so sad, and I was so worried. Daisy is my husband’s constant companion,” Harrigan said.

Her husband plays with Daisy, takes her on walks and has a very strong bond with the dog, according to Harrigan.

Daisy was found by the owners of Central Glass and Gifts after crossing US 271. The glass business is only open on Saturdays when it gets cold, Harrigan said. The owners of the business fed Daisy, watered her and kept her in their fenced yard, Harrigan said.

On Monday, Daisy was returned to her home and reunited with her family.

“We are so grateful for their kindness,” Harrigan said.

To celebrate, Harrigan made Daisy’s favorite treat, peanut butter cookies for dogs.
