FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A man was arrested on suspicion of shooting another man after a Fayetteville road rage incident on Nov. 13, deputies say.

Randall Marshall, 28, of Fayetteville was taken into custody after police said he shot a man once in the hip after getting angry due to the victim’s driving, according to deputies.

He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center at 6:51 p.m. on Thursday and faces charges of DWI, careless driving, failure to register vehicle, attempted murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, according to the jail’s intake report.

On Thursday, police were notified of a shooting at 57 S. Woodsprings Dr. They arrived at the residence and saw the victim was shot once in the hip, according to an arrest report.

The victim’s wife called police after the shooting, the arrest report states.

After being followed home by the suspected shooter, the victim walked toward the suspect’s vehicle and was shot. The suspect then left the residence, and the victim’s wife gave authorities a description of the fleeing vehicle, according to the report.

Marshall was stopped by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and arrested on suspicion of DWI, according to the report. A warrant was obtained, and his vehicle was searched. Police found a 9 mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle in the vehicle, the report states.

A spent 9 mm shell was taken from inside the vehicle. The casing matched a spent 9 mm shell casing found at the residence where the victim was shot, according to the report.

During an interview, Marshall said he was involved in a road rage incident on Crossover Road before the shooting, the report states. He said the victim was “riding” the rear of his vehicle and later taunted and threatened him, according to the report.

Marshall told deputies when the vehicles were stopped on Woodsprings Drive, the victim approached his vehicle with a hand raised, and Marshall thought the victim was armed, but he “could not say for sure he had a firearm,” the report states.

He said he felt ambushed, and as he drove away, Marshall fired one shot in the direction of the victim but wasn’t sure the shot struck him, according to the report.

After shooting the victim, Marshall went home, armed himself with an AR-15 and started driving on Crossover Road again before being stopped by the deputy, the report states.

Marshall’s bond has been set at $1,055, and his first hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m., according to the jail’s intake report.
