LITTLE ROCK (KFSM)- The Arkansas Supreme Court heard oral arguments Thursday (Nov. 20) in a case challenging the state’s gay marriage ban, officials say.

After arguments end, opinions on the case are typically issued within a few weeks. With this case, an official opinion is expected to come within four or five weeks after arguments end, a spokesperson for the Arkansas Supreme Court said.

No photography or recording is allowed in the courtroom while the court is in session, according to the spokesperson.

Judge Piazza overturned the state’s ban on gay marriage in May, which was followed by a stay issued by the Arkansas Supreme Court a few days after. In July, the Arkansas Supreme Court agreed to take up the same-sex marriage lawsuit.

Arkansas voters approved a constitutional amendment in 2004 defining marriage as between one man and one woman.
