PRAIRIE GROVE (KFSM) -A Farmington Fire Department firefighter was treated and released from the hospital after a house fire in Prairie Grove Friday (Nov. 21) morning, according to the Farmington fire chief.

Firefighter William Watts fell through the floor into the basement after walking through the front door of the house at 13138 Butler Road after he and the rest of the fire crews checked if there was anyone inside the home, Fire Chief Mark Cunningham said. Firefighter Bret Cunningham pulled Watts out with help from firefighter Scott Murphy, both men also work for the Farmington Fire Department.

According to Chief Cunningham, the fire started in the basement around 9 a.m. and softened the floors of the house as it burned. The Fire Marshal is working to determine the exact cause, but Cunningham said the house is a total loss.

Watts was treated at the hospital for minor burns and other minor injuries and was released, Cunningham said.

The Farmington, Prairie Grove and Lincoln Fire Departments responded to the fire with help from Washington County deputies, according to Cunningham. Firefighters spent about four to five hours getting the fire under control.
