FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with a train in Fayetteville on Nov. 26, police say.

The collision occurred before 2 p.m., according to police. The driver of the Jeep was identified as Alexander Lindstrom, 22, of Fayetteville, police said.

Lindstrom was cited for careless driving, according to police.

No injuries were reported from the crash; the driver had just pulled the Jeep forward too far and struck the train, according to police.

The driver was distracted at the time of the collision, messing with his iPod, police said. Eyewitnesses told police that he was listening to extremely loud music, and that could have drowned out the warning signals of the train approaching, police said.

Both the Fayetteville Police Department and Fayetteville Fire Department responded to the incident, according to police. The collision occurred near Poplar Avenue and Gregg Street, police said.

The signals that work to alert drivers of oncoming trains were working fine at the time of the collision, according to police.
