SPRINGDALE (KFSM)- The 18th annual Christmas Parade of the Ozarks took place Saturday evening (Nov. 29). Highlights include cars, vans, and floats wrapped in lights.
Organizers said over 50 local businesses, churches and community groups were involved. The 2014 Rodeo of the Ozarks queen also made an appearance, as well as a snowboarding Santa.
The Springdale and Har-Ber marching bands combined to play holiday music in the parade. The color guards from both schools also performed.
Lowell resident Sandy Lieffring was there to watch her niece in the Har-Ber color guard, but said she makes it a point to come to the parade every year.
"We love coming out and watching it, it's a great time, it's great family entertainment," Lieffering said.
The weather for the parade was around 65 degrees. In years past, the temperatures have been close to freezing.
" A couple years ago it was really cold, but it still was great, there was a good turnout,'" Lieffring said. "There's hot chocolate they're going around and giving away for free and things like that, so it's a great place to come for your family."
Seven-year-old Nolan Durkee said his favorite part of the parade was the Frozen-themed float, as well as the miniature ponies covered in Christmas lights. The second grader said he comes every year.
"I kind of like the music and I kind of like them all," Durkee said.
