FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A man was arrested in Fayetteville after a high-speed chase that involved a trooper with Arkansas State Police (ASP) being dragged along by a car, authorities say.

Casey Fyke, 19, of Fayetteville was pulled over at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 30) by an Arkansas State trooper near mile marker 58 on Interstate 49, according to a news release from ASP. Fyke was driving 98 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour zone, the release states.

The trooper that pulled him over found that Fyke was a parole absconder and did not have a valid license to drive, according to the release. After being asked by his parole officer to take him into custody for violating parole, the trooper attempted to arrest Fyke, the release states.

At that point, Fyke locked his door, and when the trooper attempted to unlock the door to get him out of the car, Fyke rolled up his door window on the officer’s arm, trapping him, according to the release.

Fyke started to drive off, dragging the trooper along by his arm, the release states. After being dragged 10 feet, the officer was able to get his arm free, according to the release.

Speeding into Fayetteville, Fyke led authorities on a high-speed chase, with speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour, the release states.

The chase stopped when Fyke drove into an apartment area and jumped out of the car with it still rolling, according to the release.

Arkansas State Police started searching for him and later found Fyke hiding in an attic of the West End Apartments at 1189 West End Ave. in Fayetteville, the release states.

Fyke was not injured, and he was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Nov. 30 at 8:18 p.m., the jail’s intake report states.

He faces charges of second-degree battery, fleeing, parole violation, speeding and reckless driving, according to the jail’s intake report.

Fyke’s bond was set at $850, and his first hearing is scheduled for Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., the jail’s intake report states.
