Arkansas lost their first game of the season on Thursday at Iowa State but that turned into the first losing streak of the season as the Razorbacks lost a late lead and then fell in overtime at Clemson, 68-65.

“Once it got in overtime, momentum kind of shifted,” Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said. ”But it wasn’t because of lack of effort. We just didn’t finish the way that we’re capable of.”

The Razorbacks got a game high 21 points from Michael Qualls, including a 3-pointer that closed the gap to 68-65 in the extra period with just less than a minute remaining. Bobby Portis added 18 for Arkansas while three Tigers finished in double figures, led by Rod Hall who had 19 to go along with four steals.

Arkansas looked to take control of the game in the early minutes of the second half as they started the second period on a 20-8 run but turnovers in the closing minutes watched a six point lead vanish in the final minute.

Arkansas must try to turn things around next weekend as they host Dayton on Saturday. The Flyers reached the Sweet 16 in last season’s NCAA tournament.
