FORT SMITH (KFSM) – A missing baby and teenage girl out of Muskogee County, Okla., were found Thursday night in Fort Smith. The multi-agency case resulted in the arrest of a rape suspect accused of fathering the child with the teenage girl.

Garrett Dobbs, 21, was arrested at a Fort Smith apartment complex by the U.S. Marshals Service, along with the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections and the Fort Smith Police Department, according to a statement by the Marshals Service. Authorities also found a 16-year-old girl and an infant at the apartment who had been reported missing.

Dobbs is accused of having sex with the girl in the summer of 2013, later fathering the child found in Fort Smith. The girl and baby were reported missing in September. A rape warrant was issued the next month against Dobbs after the girl's mother reported their sexual activity to the Muskogee County Sheriff's Office, according to an arrest warrant.

The girl's mother is listed on social media as a 911 dispatcher for the Sheriff's Office. Shortly after the girl was found, her mother's Facebook page received several congratulatory comments from friends.

A joint fugitive investigation headed by the Marshals Service revealed Dobbs may be in the Hackett area. The investigation eventually led authorities to the Fort Smith apartment complex at 6015 Jenny Lind Road, where the suspect, girl and baby were found.

The children were turned over to state Child Protective Services, and Dobbs was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center. He awaits extradition back to Oklahoma, according to the Marshals Service.
