CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) - A fire station in Crawford County is giving back to a family that lost everything in a house fire earlier this week.

Figure Five fire station helps a family every December, and this year it's a couple that lost everything when their home burned down earlier this week.

"We didn't really walk out of the house with anything, said homeowner Lindsey Mueller. Their home caught on fire Tuesday morning (Dec.16) around 3 a.m. "We both got  up and I couldn't see my hand or feet, there was a lot of smoke in the house," said Mueller.

"The whole side of the house was glowing," said homeowner Chris Piersiak.

With it being the holiday season, Figure Five fire station decided this is a family that needs help. "Every  year in December right at Christmas time we run into a family that needs help," said Dale Ingle with the Figure Five fire department. Figure Five teamed up with LeLe's Photography to help the family. It came to a total of $300.

"This is a huge deal, it's going to go a long way, "said Mueller. After losing everything they owned, this couple still finds one thing to be happy about. "We are blessed to be alive and very thankful," said Piersiak.

They plan to rebuild in the same place where their home once stood. The couple said they're staying with neighbors for the time being.

Fire crews said they still don't know what caused the fire.
