FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas Longhorns haven't met on the field since 2008. Hogs fans in Northwest Arkansas voiced their opinions on Monday's bowl game matchup.
"All the SEC teams we played this year were all ranked, not a single one of them was unranked, but we went 6-6 and that was my prediction this year, I said we're going to get to a bowl game," Alumnus Dustin Gililland said.
Gililland recently graduated from the University of Arkansas, where he played tuba in the marching band. He said he's waited six years for this matchup.
"I've always wanted to see Arkansas play Texas, but I never got the chance while I was at school, so this is a really big rivalry for Arkansas, and it's super awesome that we got to see them in bowl game," Gililland said.
He said he predicts the Razorbacks will pull out a win.
"I've been following it on ESPN and we're favored by 6 points, so I think it's a reall good matchup, so I think it in the end we'll come out on top, maybe by a touchdown or two," Gililland said.
Tyler Calloway is a senior at Fayetteville High school, and a future Razorback. He said he agrees the Hogs will take home the bowl win.
"I think think we're going to pull away at the end, it's going to be close, but I'm going to say the final score is 31-21," Calloway said.
He said he is a season-ticket holder, and was nervous earlier in the season when the chance of going to a bowl game rested on two huge games.
"I thought we could, but then at the end when we had to beat Ole Miss and LSU, I didn't think we could pull it off, but to get back-to-back shutouts was really, really awesome," Calloway said.
Fans will find out which team will come out on top Monday night. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.
