FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - It's a rivalry that started in1894. Local Hogs fans said they were excited to hear the Razorbacks would be taking on the Longhorns in the Texas Bowl.

"Oh it's good, it's that old southwest conference rivalry, so it'll be good for Arkansas fans to get all the energy ready for next year," Future Razorback Tyler Calloway said.

The two teams have met 77 times since the first game over a century ago. After a disappointing season last year, alumnus Dustin Gililland said he is looking forward to cheering on the Hogs to a victory.

"It's one of the most anticipated bowl games of the season," Gililland said.

Jared Middleton comes from a family of Arkansas alumni and fans. He said compared to the last few seasons, the Hogs are more than ready to take on the Horns.

"I think we have a stellar team, definitely much better than last year, and definitely on route to make some really good things happen in the future," Middleton.

Local Hogs fan David Buono said he had faith from the beginning of the season that the Razorbacks would end up in a bowl game.

"I felt really good about this season, I thought we would make a bowl game from the start, and I'm confident that we will actually win this bowl game," Buono said.

Buono predicted the score to be Arkansas 28, Texas 17. The last time the two teams met in 2008, the Longhorns came out on top, 52-10.
