FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- Preparations were underway Tuesday (Dec. 30) for Fayetteville's New Year's Eve celebration on the square.

Performances at Last Night Fayetteville start at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31 and go until the world-famous hog drop and fireworks show at midnight. Local musicians, actors, and artists will be performing at seven different stages around the square. Organizers said they added the seventh stage after having six last year.

Programming Coordinator Houston Hughs also said there is something new to the hog drop this year.

"We have a big secret for the hog drop this year," he said. "We've done something with the hog that you are absolutely going to have to see to believe. We traditionally have painted it, but we've done something really different this year with it, so you'll have to see that. You'll be able to see it for a long ways away from the square."

Hughs said organizers started setting up for the event Tuesday morning and will be working until the festival starts on Wednesday.

General admission tickets are $20 and $5 for children 12 and under. To buy tickets online, click here. Tickets will also be available at the door for $30.

Last Night Fayetteville was named one of the Top 10 most unique New Year's Eve celebrations in the country in 2012 by TripAdvisor.com.
