FORT SMITH (KFSM) - Fort Smith's first baby of the new year was born at 12:08 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center.
“His name is Lochlyn Burton. He weighs seven pounds, eight ounces---20 inches long,” said the baby's mother, Alicia Coker. “I didn`t expect a New Year’s baby.”
Coker said her son wasn’t due for another three weeks.
“It was at 12:08, and they called Sparks to see if they had delivered another baby before him and they hadn`t,” Coker said.
Lochlyn is Coker’s first child. She said he came in with a bang, literally.
“I was really excited,” Coker said. “There was a firework display going on. I was exhausted, but I was really excited it was neat.”
Coker said she plans to leave the hospital with her son Saturday (Jan. 3).
