FORT SMITH (KFSM) - Fort Smith police have arrested the suspect in a December shooting that left a man hospitalized, according to a statement released by the police department Friday.

Fort Smith officers on Thursday arrested Jonathan Taylor in connection with the Dec. 22 shooting of Solomon Mousseaux. Mousseaux was treated at a local hospital at the time, after which investigators began searching for Taylor, police said.

Detectives received information that Taylor was at a home on the 2200 block of North 57th Street in Fort Smith. Officers set up a perimeter around the home and arrested a man and a woman as they left the home. They then searched the home and found Taylor inside, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Taylor was arrested without incident and was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center on suspicion of felony possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant of first-degree battery. He remains in jail on $51,500 bond and a parole violation, according to a jail deputy.

Gabriel Villalba, 39, who was detained while leaving the home, was arrested on suspicion of hindering apprehension, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman he was with, Dottie Atkins, 19, was arrested on suspicion of hindering apprehension.

Police said no one was injured in the raid on the home.

Fort Smith police responded Dec. 22 at 10:35 p.m. to an apartment at 1331 S. 46th St. in reference to a shooting. Shortly afterward, workers at a local hospital told police a 28-year-old male had been brought into the emergency room with gunshot wounds to the hip and ankle. The victim was later identified as Mousseaux.

A subsequent investigation identified Taylor as the shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
