FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones bought 10 pieces of land near Fayetteville’s planned regional park, in a $7.3 million deal, according to Washington County property records.
Records show the land was sold Dec. 30 to Jerral W. Jones, of 1 Cowboys Parkway in Irving, Tex. The tracts of land, mostly off of Cato Springs Road and Judge Cummings Road, total 242 acres, with a total assessed value of just over $80,000, property records show.
Jones bought the land from Chambers Bank, which had acquired the properties in a foreclosure deal with South Pass Development Company LLC in 2010, records show.
The largest piece of land in the deal is at 2580 W. Judge Cummings Road. That tract is 118 acres, with an assessed value listed at $13,250.
The sold land is adjacent to the planned Fayetteville regional park, a $20 million city project that is expected to include 200 acres and soccer, baseball and softball fields, trails, playgrounds, courts and pavilions. The project was approved by Fayetteville aldermen in 2013.
According to Washington County court documents, Jones signed a specialty warranty deed on Dec. 31 to give the purchased land to Cato Springs Road, LLC for $0.00. It's unclear if it was a donation.
The listed address for Cato Springs Road, LLC is the same as the Razorback Foundation, 1295 S. Razorback Road.
According to the Secretary of State's website, the company's registered agent is Sean Rochelle. Rochelle is also the executive director of the Razorback Foundation.
