KNOXVILLE (KFSM)- The Arkansas basketball team fell to Tennessee on the road Tuesday night, 74-69, after an 11-point comeback bid in the final minutes.

Arkansas was down 63-52 with under three minutes to play but had a chance to tie the game on the final possession. Anton Beard missed three straight free throws in the final seconds and the Hogs fell to 2-1 in SEC play.

Down 70-66 with 26 seconds to play, Beard hit a three pointer to cut the lead to one with 13 seconds to play after Devon Baulkman missed two free throws for the Volunteers.

After a pair of Tennessee made free throws to make it 72-69, Beard was fouled on a three point attempt with 5 second remaining. After missing the first two free throws, Beard intentionally missed the third, but the Hogs couldn’t come up with the rebound, sealing their fate.

Tennessee led 33-31 at halftime and started the second half on a 10-2 run to get the lead to double digits.

Arkansas committed 18 turnovers that led to 27 Tennessee points.

The loss snaps a seven-game winning streak for the Hogs who were looking for their first 3-0 start in the SEC since 1998.

The Razorbacks continue SEC play Saturday at Bud Walton Arena against Ole Miss with an 8:30 p.m. tip.
