ROGERS (KFSM)- A 72-year-old Springdale man was killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 49 in Rogers on Wednesday(Jan. 14), according to the Arkansas State Police.
David A. Sack died after his vehicle, having entered I-49 going the wrong way, collided about 7:45 p.m. with a vehicle driven by Timothy Carter, 45, also of Springdale. Carter was injured in the wreck and taken to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.
Sack got onto Exit 81 going the wrong way and was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-49 when the wreck happened, according to the State Police.
Traffic in the southbound direction was shut down temporarily, troopers said.
An Arkansas State Police dispatcher told 5NEWS a caller reported a vehicle was driving in the wrong direction onto the interstate.
Pictures from the scene show a wrecked SUV and pickup truck.
Arkansas State Police opened both lanes to traffic at about 9:20 p.m.
