SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – A Family Dollar store in Springdale was robbed at gunpoint on Jan. 13, police say.

On Tuesday at 9:45 p.m., the Springdale Police Department was called to the Family Dollar at 2601 E. Robinson Ave. due to a robbery that had taken place, according to a news release.

The store manager told police that a Marshallese man, appearing to be in his early 30s, came into the store, put his finger to his lips and said “Shhh,” several times before telling the cashier to put money in a bag, according to authorities.

He then pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun from his pocket, racked the slide and pointed it at the woman working the cash register, the release states.

Police said the suspect then reached over the counter and grabbed the money, leaving the store on foot.

Witnesses told the police that the suspect was almost six feet tall, skinny, had brown eyes and a thick accent, according to the release. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and had a white bandanna covering his face from the nose down, authorities said.

A K-9 unit attempted to track the scent of the suspect but was unsuccessful, the release states.

Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call the Springdale Police Department at 479-751-4542 or the Crimestoppers tip line at 790-TIPS.
