FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - One of the area's largest church congregations, Cross Church, has announced they are building a new facility alongside Interstate 49 in Fayetteville.

According to Senior Pastor Dr. Ronnie Floyd, Cross Church acquired 13 acres of land in a donation. The land is located at the southeast corner of I-49 and Wedington Drive.

“We have, obviously, an opportunity here to do something great for the Lord,” Dr. Floyd said.

Dr. Floyd said the location was one he had eyed for many years.

“As we surveyed, and looked at the region, all along I really felt like that was the spot,” Dr. Floyd said. “It is very important, if possible, a church has accessibility to an interstate. And, also, visibility. Any visibility and accessibility you can have always helps.”

Cross Church originally opened their current Fayetteville facility four years ago, just down the road from the new location. The pastor of the Fayetteville Cross Church is Dr. Floyd`s son, Nick Floyd.

Dr. Floyd says this new facility will provide the church a broader reach.

“[The new facility is] enlarging the opportunity, and enlarging the footprint, so more people can come,” Dr. Floyd said.

Dr. Floyd said the land they obtained was donated by the previous owner, with Cross Church having the opportunity to buy the rest of the land at a later point.

“We have, over the next three years, an option on whether or not we want to add an additional nine acres of land,” Dr. Floyd said.

The current Cross Church in Fayetteville is fewer than 16,000 square feet, and hosts more than 2,000 people per Sunday. Dr. Floyd said the new location will provide a larger sanctuary for Cross Church, like their Pinnacle Hills and Springdale campuses, while also solving the church`s current parking issues.

“Our goal is to do it as quick as possible, because of the growth in that ministry,” Dr. Floyd said.

According to Dr. Floyd, this is another opportunity to reach the community, while being in a prime location.

“I believe this campus will provide a great encouragement, and a great future hope, for all of the city of Fayetteville,” Dr. Floyd said.

The donated land was appraised at more than $5 million, according to Cross Church officials. Dr. Floyd said he hopes his son's church congregation will have a finished building to move into in the next couple years.
