Man, Elderly Mother And Dog Escape Ozark House Fire

OZARK (KFSM) –A man, his elderly mother and their dog escaped a house fire in Ozark on Friday morning, according to the Ozark Fire Department.

Ozark firefighters responded around 8 a.m. to a report of a fire at a single-story home near the intersection of South 34th Street and Coley Drive. Responding crews saw smoke billowing from the roof.

A man, his mother and the family dog were inside of the house at the time of the fire. They all escaped without injury, according to the fire department.

The fire chief told 5NEWS the fire likely started in the bathroom and utility area, where most of the damage remains. A hole in the roof can be seen from outside the home. About half of the house sustained some smoke damage.

The chief said the owner reported electrical problems in the past, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters knocked out the flames by 9 a.m. No injuries were reported.
