Johnson County (KFSM) – The trial has been set for a Pope County man accused of killing his cousin and burning his remains in the trunk of a car, left at a local park.
Nathaniel Talkington was arrested on November 5, 2014 on suspicion of first-degree murder. He has remained in the Johnson County Detention Center without bond since then.
Authorities say the burned body found in the trunk of a BMW left at Cabin Creek in Johnson County on November 1, 2014 is Nathaniel’s cousin, Caleb Matthew Talkington. Deputies found the body after responding to a report of a vehicle fire near the pavilion at Cabin Creek Park. Responding firefighters later pried open the trunk of the BMW that was on fire and discovered a badly burned body, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab, where the cause of death was determined a homicide, according to the arrest warrant.
Talkington’s trial has been set for February 12 in Johnson County.
