SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) - The American Red Cross is encouraging blood donors to become a regular blood donor this year starting with National Blood Donor Month in January, according to a release.

The American Red Cross held a blood drive on Saturday (Jan. 31) from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Walmart located at 2901 Highway 412 E. in Siloam Springs.

January is a tough time for blood donations. According to the American Red Cross, inclement weather can result in blood drive cancellations, and cold and flu season may cause some donors to be unable to make or keep blood donation appointments.

Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with O negative, A negative and B negative, the release states.
