SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – A kidnapping suspect from Springdale was arrested in Key West, Florida Friday (Feb. 6), according to a release from the Springdale Police Department.

Johnathan Butler was arrested on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and domestic battery, the release states.

Police said Butler was involved in a domestic disturbance on Oak Moore Street about 8:30 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 1) night. When authorities arrived on scene, they talked with the female victim. She told authorities that she and Butler got into a physical fight so she left, according to Springdale Police. Butler then forced her back inside the home by pointing a loaded AR-15 rifle at her, threatening to kill her, authorities said.

She said Butler held her against her will for over an hour, but he left before authorities go there, police said.

The woman involved in the fight is expected to be okay, according to Springdale Police. She did not suffer any life-threatening injuries in the fight, authorities said.

In the release, the Springdale Police Department thanked Florida State Police for apprehending Butler. Authorities are making arrangements to extradite him back to Arkansas.
