FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Things could not have gone any better for Arkansas on opening weekend of the college baseball season.

The Razorbacks wrapped up a three game sweep of North Dakota as they pounded out a 12-1 win Saturday afternoon in the nightcap of a doubleheader.

Arkansas took the opening game of the day 13-2 while the Hogs rolled in the season opener on Friday, picking up an 11-4 win.

Clark Eagan capped his monster weekend as he added three hits and drove in three runs. Eagan posted eight hits and drove in seven runs over the three game series.

Chad Spanberger broke out in the series finale as he picked up three hits and drove in four runs.

“The second game we started a couple guys for the first time and they ended up getting six hits between the two of them,” Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said. “Guys on the bench are coming off doing a great job of swinging the bat.  There’s a lot of competition to get in the lineup and I think it’s going to keep our players working hard.”

Arkansas scored at least 11 runs in all three games of the series and finished with 36 runs over the weekend.

“You never plan on scoring that many runs, you just want to win the game,” Van Horn said. “If you can get into double digits, that’s great.  It just kind of played into our hand this weekend.  The wind was blowing out, good temperatures.  I think the hitters did a good job of battling.  We didn’t strike out too much.”

Zach Jackson picked up the win for Arkansas as he threw four innings while allowing a single run on five hits and struck out eight.

Arkansas is back in action on Friday as they travel to Mobile, Ala. for three games in three days. The Razorbacks will face Central Florida on Friday before facing South Alabama on Saturday and Maryland on Sunday.
