ROGERS (KFSM) - The Rogers Fire Department put out a commerical fire in Rogers on Monday (Feb. 16), according to authorities.

The fire happened around 10:30 a.m. Monday at Superior Industries located at 1301 N. Dixieland Rd., said Rogers Fire Captain Dennis Thurman.

Flames were contained to the roof and were likely started by welding, Thurman said.

Multiple emergency units were deployed to assist with the incident.

The Superior Industries plant produced aluminum wheels while it was in operation. Superior Industries announced in July 2014 that it would close its facility in Rogers at the end of 2014. The move was expected to save $15 million in labor costs every year, resulting from the company cutting 500 employees.
