Even a little bit of physical activity can mean a lot for seniors. A new vaccine offers more protection against cervical cancer. Check out the day’s top health stories.

A new HPV vaccine protects against cervical cancer much better than the current vaccine, Gardasil. That’s according to a new study in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers in London found the new vaccine, Gardasil 9, increases prevention from 70 to 90 percent. Merck, which makes the vaccine, funded the study.

New research shows older adults with limited mobility can lower their risk of heart attack and death for every minute of physical activity they do. Even slow walking and light housekeeping help. The research in the Journal of the American Heart Association finds for every half hour seniors are sedentary each day, their risk of heart disease and death goes up .

There is more evidence that lack of sleep is linked to diabetes and obesity. Researchers at the University of Chicago found sleep loss led to increased fatty acid levels in the blood. Higher levels of fatty acids make it harder for the body to regulate blood sugars.
