WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) – An Oklahoma man is facing a negligent homicide charge after a Saturday night (Feb. 21) wreck that killed a man and critically injured a woman, according to an arrest report form the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Benn Garrett, 26, of Stillwell, was arrested Monday (Feb. 23) by Arkansas State Police and released on a $15,000 bond, according to jail records.

On Saturday, around 11:20 p.m., Garrett was driving on Highway 16, just west of Fayetteville, when he hit a 2009 Chevrolet head on, according to a police report.

Bounthavy Douangphachanh, 58, of Fayetteville was killed in the collision and Sinoune Douangphachanh, 54, also from Fayetteville, was critically injured and taken to Washington Regional Medical Center, the report states. Garrett was not injured in the accident.

According to Garrett’s arrest report, he fled the scene on foot and contacted an unknown person to pick him up.

Garrett is also facing charges of leaving the scene of an injury accident, reckless driving and driving left of center in addition to the negligent homicide charge, according to jail records. His next court date is scheduled for March 20.
