GREENWOOD (KFSM) - Main Street, between Bell Park and Meadow Bridge, was shut down due to ice on the roads Tuesday morning (Feb. 24), according to Greenwood Police Chief Will Dawson.

Dawson said signs are up in that area, alerting drivers to the closure. Anyone who drives around those signs will be ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.

Main Street will reopen to drivers at 10 a.m., granted it is safe to drive at that point, Dawson said.

Officers are also warning Greenwood drivers that Denver Street is iced over Tuesday morning. They're asking that drivers use caution in that area.

Drivers are also battling ice on Highway 96 through Greenwood, authorities said. Officers ask that drivers slow down in that area as well to prevent slide offs or accidents.
