Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY (KFSM) – It was supposed to be the biggest SEC showdown of the season. It was supposed to be the game that Arkansas used to vault themselves into the national picture.

It wasn’t.

Kentucky threw down an alley-oop just nine seconds into the game as the Wildcats ran away with an 84-67 win over Arkansas at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats led by as much as 31 points in the second half.

Four players for each team finished in double figures but the Wildcats shot nearly 50 percent from the field while Arkansas was held to just 21-of-56 (37 percent). Trey Lyles and Andrew Harrison finished with a combined 36 points to lead the way for Kentucky.

Bobby Portis had 15 points and eight rebounds while Michael Qualls finished with 17 points and nine rebounds in the loss for Arkansas.

Kentucky was able to handle Arkansas’s pressure as the Wildcats committed just nine turnovers and pulled down 13 offensive rebounds that led to several easy put backs.

Arkansas remains in second place in the SEC heading into the final week of the regular season.
