NORTHWEST ARKANSAS, RIVER VALLEY (KFSM)-Another round of winter weather swept through our area Saturday (Feb. 28).

This led to messy road conditions and several accidents.

The roads are slick, especially on bridges and overpasses, according to state police. As traffic picks up throughout the morning, city streets departments are working diligently to keep the roads clear.

Police are reminding drivers to keep a safe distance between your car and other drivers. They’re also urging motorists to clear snow off your car before heading out. Not doing so could even result in a $140 fine in Sebastian County.

Multiple law enforcement agencies throughout our area have reported dozens of wrecks within the last 24 hours.

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

I-49 between Fort Smith and Fayetteville is messy, according to Arkansas State Police.  They’re encouraging people not to travel unless it’s an emergency. ASP in the River Valley said they’ve worked at least three wrecks since 7 a.m., and lots of cars have slid off the roads.

Benton County dispatch said roads are extremely slick. As of 10 a.m., no accidents were reported, but a few drivers were reported losing control of their car, crashing into ditches.

Washington County deputies have seen at least four wrecks on I-49, with no injuries reported, according to ASP.

Madison County dispatch said roads are being cleared, but they urge drivers to use caution if heading out. Earlier Saturday morning they responded to a White Chevy Truck that ran off the road;  dispatch said the driver wasn’t injured, and no other accidents have been reported.

RIVER VALLEY

Sebastian County dispatch said there were no accidents before 10 a.m., but said to use caution on the roads.

The Fort Smith Police Department website is reporting at least three accidents as of 11 a.m, with wreck on Planters Road and Ball Road, having reported injuries.

Crawford County dispatch said they didn’t work any wrecks, but roads are icy. They’re suggesting drivers take it easy on the roads.

-Franklin County dispatch said road conditions are bad. They’re advising everyone to stay inside unless they absolutely need to drive. They said county roads are worse than city roads. No accidents have been reported as of 10:30 a.m.

-Scott County dispatch said roads are still covered in snow, but conditions are fair.  They said to look out for slick spots.

-Logan County dispatch said there were no accidents reported. Roads are slick and still covered in snow.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they haven’t responded to any wrecks. For current highway conditions, click here.

Sequoyah County dispatch said the roads are still slick. They haven’t worked any accidents as of 10:30 a.m.

LeFlore County dispatch said the roads are not clear at all, even on the main roads; no accidents were reported.
