FORT SMITH (KFSM)-Ice and snow melting across the area was helpful to many travelers flying out of Fort Smith Regional Airport.

Those headed to the airport this morning said they were concerned about their flight getting delayed or cancelled, but airline workers said only one flight ended up being canceled. American flight 3681 was supposed to depart to Dallas at 6:05 a.m.

Travelers were more concerned about their layover in Dallas since more than 1,000 flights were cancelled out of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Saturday (Feb. 28), according to the airline’s website.

“I even asked the lady at the ticket counter what Dallas looked like this morning, and she said well hopefully by the time you arrive it’ll be organized chaos, not total chaos, so yeah I was getting a little concerned about getting out of Dallas,” Keith Hayes said.

“I’m a little bit concerned from Dallas to Denver I knew I could probably get out of here sometime, but how long, is it gonna take all day? Probably, that’s what the problem will be,” Richard Bogner said.

The two men both work together and are headed to Denver for a business trip.

Airport officials across the region are still asking passengers to check flight statuses before heading out.
