Ozark Falls Short In 4A Girls Title Game

Lady Hillbillies tripped up to 38-1 Riverview

HOT SPRINGS (KFSM) - Coaches know that bad shooting games come with the territory but just hope they don't come at the wrong time.

That's exactly what happened to the Ozark Lady Hillbillies in the 4A state championship game.

Ozark hit just 20 percent (11-of-53) from the field as Riverview ran away with the 65-43 win at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena.

Despite struggling form the floor, Ozark was down just three at the half thanks to 11 free throws but the poor shooting was too much to overcome in the final 16 minutes.

"We've always come back and shot well and done the things we needed to do to win the ball games," senior Kylie Ladd said. "Tonight shouldn't have been any different but it was and for that, we come up short."

Ladd finished with 12 points for Ozark while shooting 3-of-20 from the field. Olivia Melton added 10 points along with nine rebounds. Riverview was paced by Madison Riley with 16 points while Erykah Johns finished with 14.

"The second half, I feel like that's our strong half," senior Celia Heffington said. "We always come back and hit it hard but today our shots weren't falling. You can't do much."
